the brief

01the problem

Wellness apps ask people to find time they do not have — so sessions get skipped and the habit quietly dies.

02the solution

An AI companion that reads the calendar people already keep and fits the practice into the day as it actually is.

the idea

mindfulness that fitsthe life you already have

automatic

AIMI reads the diary and offers the gap — nobody has to schedule calm.

contextual

Mood, guidance and length adapt to what the day actually looks like.

sustainable

Streaks and passes protect the habit without punishing a missed day.

process

four passes,one loop

01

research & discovery

Interviews and diary studies with people who had tried and quit a meditation app.

02

ideation & mapping

An empathy map — actions, thoughts, needs, feelings — became the experience map.

03

ui design & prototyping

A single companion character carried tone across every surface.

04

testing & refinement

Session length, guidance and streak rules were tuned against real weeks.

splash & onboarding

meeting AIMI

Five screens between install and first breath. The character does the explaining, so the onboarding reads as an introduction rather than a form.

guided & unguided practice

two ways in,one way out

Guided sessions hand the user to AIMI; unguided ones hand them a timer and a horizon. Both end in the same place — a short check-in that feeds the next recommendation.

talk first

A short exchange with AIMI sets the intention before the timer starts.

close the loop

The post-session mood reading tunes tomorrow's suggestion.

smart scheduling

it finds the gapyou already had

01

read the calendar

A Google Calendar connection surfaces the real shape of the day, not an idealised one.

02

offer the moment

Free windows become suggestions, sized to the time that is actually there.

03

hold the space

Accepted sessions are written back as events, so the practice defends itself.

progress & motivation

keeping the thread

Progress is a path, not a percentage. A broken streak is met with a Mindfulness Pass rather than a scolding — the one design decision users mentioned most in testing.
